Crossing nearly the entire base, a wide landscaped “Cart Way” with jogging circles provides cart access. The use of carts and a cart way has been shown to expedite services, increase base efficiency, save energy and reduce fuel consumption. As the cart way is used 24/7, it required over a mile of even illumination with lighting for both the cart way, and also out into the jogging circles.
As the cart way’s location spanned roads and reached into areas not easily accessible to grid electricity, solar was the perfect solution to the high cost of trenching in a grid extension along the entire length. Environmentally, solar electricity was the only answer.
A SEPCO™ SELS300 Solar Electric Lighting Assembly was chosen to operate each system, consisting of 8 of our brightest Pagoda Fixtures, from dusk to dawn (DTD) year round. The 17 Solar Electric Lighting Systems powered a total of 136 fixtures that were placed on each side of the cart way, at about 60 ft increments, to provide alternating illumination for over a mile of cart way and jogging.
