How Much Will Solar Panels Really Save You?

Posted by SEPCO | 11/7/17 10:00 AM

Renewable energy has been making headlines over the last several years, especially solar power, which can be harnessed using a solar panel system. But despite all of the attention on solar power, many people are still unaware of the many benefits of using this type of renewable energy. Here’s a look at some of the benefits of installing a solar power system on your home:

Better For the Environment

The vast majority of homes are powered by fossil fuels, which are harmful to the environment. In fact, the burning of fossil fuels is the single largest source of carbon dioxide emissions, which is one greenhouse gas that is believed to be responsible for climate change. However, no greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere when renewable energy is used to power a home. Therefore, a home that is powered by renewable energy is far more eco-friendly than a home that is powered by traditional fossil fuels.

Reduces Dependency on Fossil Fuels

Solar power is referred to as a renewable energy source because it will never run out, however fossil fuels such as coal and oil are nonrenewable. This means that the world’s supply of fossil fuels will eventually run out. Instead of waiting for the supply to run low, switch to solar power now so you can reduce your dependency on fossil fuels before it’s too late.

Creates More Jobs

Do your part to improve the economy by switching to solar power. Producing and installing solar panels is labor intensive. As this form of energy continues to grow in popularity, more people will need to be hired to meet demand. It’s estimated that if 25% of energy came from renewable sources such as solar power, over 200,000 more jobs would be created by 2020.

Powering your home with solar panels can also save you a significant amount of money. To learn more about this topic, take a look at this infographic provided by HomeSelfe:
